Sabrina's Signature
My Work
My Signature project examines the intersections of Asian American history, Asian American identity, environmentalism, and environmental identity. This is a virtually unexplored field, but it contains a vast number of historical and spiritual connections. Some potential aspects I may examine include the historical disenfranchisement of Asian American farmers, interviews with current Asian American identity farmers, as well as a personal exploration of my own connections with the earth and my grandparents' history of gardening. By recognizing Asian Americans' contributions to American land, I seek to challenge the idea that Asian Americans are not American, while also exposing the inaccessibility of land and rural spaces to BIPOC. I will also attempt to redefine citizenship in the context of racism, climate change, and environmental injustice.
